Jayapura, Jubi – Papua’s provincial councillor Yanni said the local government and the council must defend the status of Papuans in Papua New Guinea because their citizenship status remain unclear.
“The Provincial Government and Papua’s Parliament must fight for dozens or even hundreds of Papua residents in Papua New Guinea. Up to now there have been no attempts to get them back,” Yanni said via text message to Jubi on Monday afternoon (3/11).
Another Papua’s legislator Boy Markus Dawir said the parliament should listen to people’s aspirations. “It is part of our political responsibility to the voters. This is the people’s voice. So we have the obligation to fight for what they want,” Dawir said. (Arjuna Pademme/Albert Yomo/rom)
