

Vote counting plenary of Papua Province (Jubi)
Jayapura , 30/4 ( Jubi ) – The Papua Election Supervisory Body ( Bawaslu) urged the Yahukimo Election Commission not to conduct a plenary in Jayapura because it is not in accordance with existing procedures.
The Supervisory Commissioner, Anugerah Patah said on Tuesday ( 29/4 ) KPU Yahukimo was evacuated to Asmat through the river of Yahukimo to conduct district -level plenary outside of their region .
“What’s the reason to hold the plenary outside Yahukimo? It should be done in Yahukimo instead. Interestingly Puncak Jaya KPU could hold the plenary in their region although the region is classified as conflict-prone areas,” Patah said.
The Yahukimo Election Supervisory Commitee ( Pawanslu) said that the situation was quite tense and the commissioner fled to the police station, according to Patah.
“Information gathered from friends states that there were many objections to discrepancies in the vote counting during plenary. They panicked and lost uncontrol. Therefore, the commissioner ran away for their safety, ” he added.
He said that according to the Supervisory Committee, the commissioners should have opened space to resolve the issue based on the evidence owned by the witnesses of political parties.
Meanwhile, Papua Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono said police had picked up Yahukimo Commission commissioner in Asmat regency by police aircraft , Skytruck .
“This morning, the Commissioners arrived in Agats, Asmat and picked them up used Skytruck plane and arrived in Jayapura this afternoon, ” Hartono said.
Previously, clashes between political party Golkar and National Mandate Party occurred in Dekai during plenary of vote counting on Monday (28/4) at around 16:30. The Commissioner sought protection to the local police headquarters before being evacuated to Asmat.
Chairman of the Papua Election Commission, Adam Arisoy said his colleagues who served at the regency level are now under pressure from those irresponsible people. (Jubi/Indrayadi TH/Tina)
