Jayapura, Jubi – Dozens of Cenderawasih University (Uncen) students held a rally to remind the Papua Governor Lukas Enembe to keep his promise to resume the Special Autonomy fund to the Central Government.
The Chairman of Student Executive Body of Cenderawasih University Doni Donatus Gobai stated the protest is aimed to follow up the governor’s statement. “If what he said when inaugurating six regents and deputy regents at Papua Governor Office was from his heart, he must promptly act. Not only speak,” said Gobai to Jubi on Tuesday (02/03).
According to him, students are generation whose burdened with hopes and expectations. They have huge mandate to reveal or express suggestion or aspiration and to warn the related stakeholders, such as the government.
Protest Coordinator Herbert Amohoso said the students are known as street parliament in maintaining regional situation to be secured of regime’s dictatorship, of misuse power and of the stagnant of the Nation and the State as mandated by Constitution. “Yes, please resume the Special Autonomy fund. Mr. Governor must resume it. Shouldn’t longer to hold it,” said Amohoso.
“Special Autonomy fund must not become an issue of overtaking the order of life of he indigenous Papuan. It was too small for us; it couldn’t finance the development in Papua. I said better it resume to the Central Government because it was too small and not gave us benefit,” he said citing the governor’s statement on Wednesday (17/2/2016).
MPM Uncen Chairman Pontius Omoldonag said it is the students’ responsibility to become corrector and controller if the role of many elements could not be functioned properly.
“After made that statement, the governor has no taken any further step. So when? People have already rejected it because it failed. The governor has also followed the people’s choice. He is great for this reason. But when could he realize his statement if it was coming from his very heart?,” he said. (Abeth You/rom)
