Jayapura, 25/4 ( Jubi ) – A gunfire repeated in Gurage of Mulia Sub-district, Puncak Jaya Regency causing two injured soldiers.

The latest information said the gunfire between the Indonesian Army and the armed group was occurred at around 13:40 Papua time on Friday (25/4). Two injured soldiers are Polang Harahap who got shot on his temple and Rahman Hakim who got injured on his shoulder

The Spokesman of Cenderawasih XVII Regional Military Command, the Colonel Lieutenant Rikas Hidayatullah told the incident was started when the soldiers of Yonif 751 Raider were patrolling around the scene.
“Suddenly they were attacked by an armed group. Rahman and Polang got shot. After the attack, the perpetrators straightly run away,” the Colonel said on Friday (25/4).

He further said Rahman died of the severe injury on his shoulder because the evacuation process from Gurage to the Government Hospital in Mulia was quite difficult due to the geographical condition.
“It took hours to travel from Gurage to Mulia. Currently his body is still on the process of evacuation to Kota Mulia, and we are still waiting for the aircraft to send his body to Jayapura by Saturday (26/4),” said Hidayatullah.

The Commander of the Infantry Battalion 751 Raider, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Luqman Arief told to tabloidjubi.com he regretted the shooting incident that caused one of his best soldiers died on duty.
“Sergeant Rahman was our best soldier.  He was Papuan decent from Genyem. He’s married with a child,” said Arief by phone.

Arief furher said his wife is a kindergarten teacher in Sentani, that’s inspired him to teach the local children in his duty station.
“His wife just sent him some books to support his teaching in the village, and his body will depart from Mulia to Sentani, but we are still waiting for further information,” said Arief. (Jubi/Indrayadi TH/rom)
