Jayapura, Jubi – Human rights activist Natalius Pigai said there were ministers of the government of President Joko Widodo who had taken actions outside of their main duties and functions that, according to Pigai, would disrupt regional stability and democracy in Papua.
Pigay mentioned the trip of two ministers to Papua on December 13, 2021. The two ministers who were not named by Pigai, according to Pigai, used a private jet to meet Papua Governor Lukas Enembe at his residence in Yoka.
“It was not an official meeting. We fear it will damage democracy and have the potential to disrupt Papua’s stability,” he said.
If two ministers came to Papua for state affairs, Pigai said, they should have come officially and announced to the public or the Papuan people as beneficiaries of the policy.
He said the people and all components of the nation should criticize the ministers’ trip in secret and question whether their agenda was a state or personal interest.
Previously, Natalius Pigai made a tweet related to the visit of two ministers to Papua on his Twitter account. “The ministers continue to engage in politics, riding a jet outside of their main task to dictate the governor, who is sick and in treatment, about succession in Papua. These are ways to destroy democracy and regional stability,” he tweeted on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
According to Jubi’s source who refuses to be named, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian and head of the Investment Coordinating Board or Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia visited the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, forced Enembe to appoint Paulus Waterpau as deputy governor, and urged Enembe’s approval to the expansion of Papua into several provinces.
