Jayapura 16/3 ( Jubi ) – Two people  were arrested after a clash between residents and members of the Papua police mobile brigade unit ( Brimob) in Kalibobo, Nabire regency on Saturday (14/3).

The clash broke out after a drunk teenager asked for money from  Brimob members who were playing futsal on a local court and hit one of the policemen when they refused to give him cash.
“They chased the teenager and fighting ensued. The teenager then called his friends for help,” Papua police chief Inspector General Tito Karnavian said Sunday  (16/3).

“If I am not mistaken, three people from the same group were detained,” he said, adding that the conflict had been resolved.

He He further explained  two motorcycles burnt and one man was stabbed by a group of drunk people.

The officers then went to the local police department to report the incident.
“When, the community control unit (Dalmas) came, they fired warning shots and the crowds dispersed right away ” he added.

Previously, a resident who declined to give his  name said that a group of youths had planned to play futsal but the court was being used by the police.
“Two junior high school students left the area and then came with one drunk man whose relatives asked for money to the Brimob members who were watching his friends playing,” the resident told tabloidjubi.com.

The police officers told  them to get out of the hall but the drunken man  threw rocks stones at the court, he said.
“Members of Brimob went out and beat him up. Then, the other two people helped and fought with members of Brimob,” the eyewitness said. ( Jubi / Indrayadi TH/ Tina )
