Jayapura, Jubi – The deputy chairman of the Papua Legislative Council ( DPRP), Ruben Magay, said that the draft autonomy law should contain political bargaining and not economic.

Various responses came after it was found that the Draft Autonomy Plus is not included in the 2015 National Legislation Program.

“Actually, since the beginning, when the team of Special Autonomy Law was formed, I have had proposed the team to involve the Free Papua Movement leader so that they can contribute to the revisions.

Their minds have to go in as it is related to political bargaining. But if you just talk about economic bargaining, the Autonomy Plus Draft will have no power,” Ruben Magay said to Jubi, on Saturday (14/02/2015).

According to him, if the article revised is focused on economic, Jakarta would take it easily and arbitrarily delay the discussion. However, if it contains political aspects, Jakarta will be restless.

“For example the 2001 Special Autonomy Law, it was immediately taken serious as it was shown as political bargaining. Wherein if the central government do not take it seriously, the Papuan people then demand a referendum. This caused the Indonesian government consider it. So now there needs to be discussion on the community and must be clear,” he explained.

He said, Autonomy Plus Draft has been evaluated twice by the native Papuan people and Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) some time ago.

“Draft of Autonomy Plus submitted to the Papua Legislative Council (DPRP) is not rejected, but postponed the discussion. So that the contents of the draft Law on Special Autonomy Plus it can be known by the community,” he stated .

It needs political support from society so that when the governor, DPRP chairman and MRP must fight for the Draft of Autonomy Plus, the Central Government would no longer mess around.
