

Elections process in highland (Jubi)
Jayapura, 23/6 (Jubi) – The Association for the Elections and Democracy (Perludem) rated the tension ahead the upcoming Presidential Election is very high, since the competition to get voters has already achieved to level 15.
“It becomes a problem since two candidates will compete for a position. And it consciously or unconsciously have divided our society into two groups while the campaign is running fast and faster,” said the Chairman of Perludem, Didik Rahmadi to reporters on Monday (23/6) in Jayapura, Papua.
He admitted the tension of competition ahead the Presidential Election at the top level looks stable and easy, but at the lower level, it’s not just fine. And the competition in the social media is becoming very tight. “This phenomenon becomes very massive and becomes the subject of discussion in the internet,” he said.
He also said about the phenomenon of the auto robot to reproduce fake response in the social media to encounter the discussion about two candidates. He further said the more serious issue is currently people has been divided into two polars, those who support Prabowo and those who support Jokowi. It would potentially raise a potential conflict among them until the Election Day.
“I think our job is to keep this different for not being a conflict at the Election day or after it,” said Didik.
He expected those who worked for the Election and Media have responsibility to response this issue.
“It means that from today we are starting to conduct a peaceful campaign to avoid a conflict among our society, because we will take the consequence if it’s happened,” he said.
According to him, it was different with the Legislature Election which the conflict was relatively could be controlled because the candidates competed for many seats.
The Chairman of the Alliance of Independent Journalist Jayapura said the media workers were experiencing to many things, so they are not allowed to be a supporter or join the campaign team.
“Most of Media Corporation or organization should have this policy. AJI has issued a policy to its member for not getting involved in the campaign team. If they decided join the campaign team, they must resign from AJI. The Journalist should be neutral,” said Victor Mambor. (Jubi/Alex/rom)
