Jayapura, 16/2 (Jubi) – Following a seminar held by tabloidjubi.com, a team called Forum Masyarakat Adat Bersatu (Customary Community Forum) has been established to fight for 14 seats for indigenous communities in DPR Papua.

“I never thought that this discussion will have a huge impact. All sections of society  have come together pursuing the right of Papuans to 14 seats in DPR Papua,” said Renwarin, a member of a team for 14 Seats in DPR Papua when contacted by tabloidjubi.com by phone on Sunday (16/2).

“Team has discussed and established the Customary Community Forum led by Ondoafi Ramses Ohee in order to accelerate recruitment and determination of 14 seats through the existing Special Regulation,” said Renwarin.

He said that the meeting agenda with the Governor Lukas Enembe and Vice-Governor Klemen Tinal is to request the governor and DPR Papua to immediately determine the Special Regulation.

He added that the team also asked the recruitment process of Papuan legislators to be implemented through customary, women and youth institutions before the legislative election on 9 April.
“We hope that in March the recruitment process of legislator candidates will be resolved and legally approved by DPR Papua,” he said.

Earlier a member of the forum, Robert Mandosir and others met with the Commission A of DPR Papua. “We have met and discussed with the Port Numbay Customary Assembly about 14 legislative seats in DPR Papua,” Mandosir told tabloidjubi on Friday (14/2). (Jubi/Dominggus A Mampioper/rom)
