

KNPB hold a rally on last year – Jubi
Jayapura, Jubi – Police in Manokwari, West Papua Province, dispersed a rally led by the local branch of the West Papua National Committee.
Samuel Mabel confirmed the incident to Jubi.
“We accommodated West Papuan people to rally but in front of the Papua State University, the security forces blocked and forced us to scatter. They took over all gathering points,” Mabel told Jubi on Wednesday (24/6/2015) from Manokwari.
The Secretary General of Manokwari Regional People’s Assembly t had similar statement. “We want to hold a rally peacefully but the security forces came to block and disperse the Papuan people who want to express their aspirations in public. We are disappointed with their act and ask the Indonesian Government to open the access of democracy in Papua,” he said.
In addition, the Central KNPB Spokesperson Bazoka Logo stated Indonesia must stop showing to Papuan nation that Indonesia is actually an invader. “The protest of West Papuan people is guaranteed by Indonesian Constitution. Therefore the Indonesian Police should immediately release the KNPB activists who currently in jail. They should not blockage and disperse the demonstration and arrest people who involved in the demonstration,” he said.
He further said,” After many incidents that continuously happened, we are still optimistic to fight for the real serenity for West Papua that is Free Papua. KNPB believes that we can repel the Malay nation out of Papua forever,” he said.
The latest information received by Jubi said none was arrested related to this incident. Besides Manokwari, some KNPB regional offices held a prayer in their regions including Sorong, Biak, Kaimana, Fakfak, Timika, Merauke, Yahukomo, Pegunungan Bintang, Mamberamo Tengah, Sentani, Numbay, Nabire, Wamena, Yalimo, Dogiyai and Central Indonesia Consulate.
