Jayapura, Jubi – A former legislative candidate from the Golkar Party, Mesak Kogoya, said people at Kubu Sub-district of Tolikara Regency have been blocking the Tolikara – Jayawijaya – Puncak Jaya highway in protest against the local Election Commission.
“My supporters blocked the highway to reclaim my vote result. They knew that I was an elected candidate and it has been authorized through the plenary of Tolikara Election Committee in last April. But why have I been excluded from the list submitted to the Papua Provincial government?” Kogoya said on Monday (16/2/2015).
According to him, the Papua Governor has ordered the Tolikara Election Committee and Tolikara Regent to revise the list of elected candidates. He further said the regent; local election committee and Golkar Party Chairman must sit together to settle up this case.
“My vote has been set in the plenary session, but why it changes now? If this case has not yet resolved and the inauguration is still conducted, I will take it to the Supreme Court,” he said.
Separately, the Tolikara Golkar Chairman Nikodemus Kogoya said this case would not be happened if the Tolikara Election Committee carried out their duty properly. But the reality is they manipulate the data.
“If the regent said the vote result or assignment was the chairman’s decision, it’s wrong. When hearing information said the elected Tolikara councilors would be immediately sworn got Mr. Mesak’s suporters upset,” Nikodemus Kogoya said. (Arjuna Pademme/rom)
