Merauke, Jubi – Papua Province will build a rice warehouse in Merauke, an official said.
“To support local government in Merauke, we will soon build warehouse to distribute rice for the entire regencies in Papua. Besides Merauke, Keerom will also be a rice supplier,” said Regional Secretary of Papua, Hery Dosinaen, in Merauke this week.
For distribution, the provincial government will cooperate with the Army, and plans to buy a cargo ship.
“We are looking forward to having it and we hope the Merauke government will be ready to provide land for the construction of the rice barn,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Merauke, Daniel Pautam said the regency was ready to build the warehouse.
“Merauke local government is ready because each year, we could harvest rice twice. Thus, the requested quota, can be accommodated, “Daniel Pauta said.
He continued, various support facilities primarily concerned with irrigation and fertilizer procurement, must be prepared first. “So when farmers want to work, do not complain because of the problems of fertilizer and irrigation canals to their rice fields,” he said. (Alexander Loen/Tina)
