Jayapura, Jubi – The Papua government will suspend salaries of three provincial civil servants because of poor performance, said the head of the provincial Financial and Regional Asset Management Board (BPKAD), Benyamin Arisoy.
The move followed calls by Papua Governor Lukas Enembe for the suspension of salaries for those who underperformed.
“Several department heads have requested to us to suspend salaries of the three civil servants,” Arisoy told reporters in Jayapura City on Monday (10/11). However, he refused to announce the names of officials whose salaries had been frozen.
He said decisions to suspend salaries came from office heads.
“Each department has an Internal Control System. They only need to submit a report on their employees, whether they have been moved or not performing well. It’s our reference to suspend salaries. Currently we have received letters from three departments,” he said.
Abour salaries management, Arisoy said it works properly and on time as expected.
Earlier, the Papua Governor Lukas Enembe instructed the provincial department heads to manage their staffs.
“Many employees are still skipping their duties. Therefore I ask the office heads to manage their staffs. It’s a must in order to ensure the administration and service to the public could be met the expectation,” Enembe said in Jayapura in the early September. Furthermore, he appealed the department heads to evaluate and find solution related to their employees’ performance. (Alexander Loen)
