Jayapura , 9/1 ( Jubi ) – The Provincial Government of Papua asked to pay attention to fix three major airports in Papua which are categorized as international airports.
The member of Commission D of Papua Legislative Council ( DPRP) overseeing infrastructure, Erwin Kbarek said that the three airports namely Sentani Airport in Jayapura, Mopah Airport in Merauke and Frans Kaisiepo airport in Biak .
“Although there is no foreign airline taking Papua routes, but three airports have status as international airports, so it is the time for government to pay attention and modify it. At least , support facilities at the airport will be completed. ” said Erwin Kbarek , Thursday ( 9/1) .
According to Erwin, they will continue to establish communication with the Provincial Government of Papua and regencies for modifying these three airports.
” Particularly, when Governor of Papua with us meet Angkasapura as the manager of airport in Papua. Governor promised to give the airport’s fixing budget and the release of land customary rights, ” he said . Moreover, further Erwin , “2015 Asean Economic Community will be enforced . We can not avoid it and Papua must have preparation. At least for this challenge is the readiness of the airport . “
The land customary rights issue of airport in Papua often happened. One of the airports that often gets “ terror” blocking from the land owners is Sentani Airport , Jayapura regency .
Head of Transportation Affair, Papua province , Joseph Yambeyabdi some time ago said, gathering historical data related to Sentani Airport and completion stages that have been done .
” That’s what we have prepared. Is it included comunity’s complaints or not,such things need to be addressed and discussed between Transportation Affairs, Papua and DPRP. It is important because the information given to the public about what has been done by the government could be accepted by society , and the lack of government can be addressed by the government. ” said Joseph Yambeyabdi .
