Jayapura , 27/3 ( Jubi ) – Papua Persecutors’ office is now investigating an indication of corruption in the procurement of electrical generators at Jayapura General Hospital worth  Rp 3.5 billion in the 2013 budget.

The head of Public Information at the prosecutors’ office, Obed Ansanay, said that an early probe on 25 March found that losses to the state were estimated at more than Rp1.5 billion.
“The losses occurred from the supply of generator units and other devices. There are several items and we found that the prices were not reasonable. Currently, we’re investigating and developing the case,” Ansanay said on Thursday (27/3) .

Losses are likely to increase as the procurement of other devices has not been calculated. The persecutors have questioned more than 10 witnesses, including the treasurer and the contract and procurement committee.
” The hospital should be the one responsible. We have summonsed witnesses and are trying to determine suspects in this case,” he said.

“We are looking into the procurement partner. In the near future there will definitely be a suspect,” he said .
Earlier, chief persecutor ES Maruli Hutagalung said prosecutors had determined suspects in the budget mark-up related to the procurement of generators for the hospital. ( Jubi / Arjuna/ Tina )
