Papua Police spokesman Patridge Renwarin – Jubi

Jayapura, Jubi – Police is planning to level four chargers against those involved in last week’s rioting in Tolikara, Papua, a police spokesman said.

“So, Papua Police investigators sort out 4 charges in the Tolikara incident,” Papua Police spokesman Patridge said in Jayapura, Papua on Tuesday (07/21/2015).

These charges are alleged incitement, assault, arson and misuse of firearms by security officers on duty when it happened.
“Up to now we have interrogated about 30 witnesses, 22 of the people and nine witnesses from the police,” he said.

Furthermore, the former police chief of Merauke stated that the ranks of Papua Police investigators would re-examine five witnesses related to the case of the four cases on Tuesday morning (22/7).
“Police continue to work. Hopefully all parties can refrain from giving us space so that the investigation process can run smoothly,” he said.

Separately, Pastor Neles Tebay, coordinator of Papua Papua Peace Network (JDP) assessed the response to the issue of intolerance in Karubaga, Tolikara, Papua, showed all the sympathy and attention to the religious life in Papua.
“The Tolikara incident drew many reactions and responses from across the nation. As it shows tremendous concern to the religious life in Papua. I hope the same attention will urge prevention and develop peace, “he said in Jayapura, Papua on Tuesday.

He said he hoped all elements throughout the country to pray for the safety and peace for all people in Tolikara and throughout Papua.
