Opening ceremony of Sentani Lake Festival (Jubi)
Jayapura, 18/6 (Jubi) – Papua police said that police officers will wear a modified uniform during the Seventh Sentani Lake Festival (FDS) from 19 to 23 June at Kalkhote Tourism area in Sentani, Papua .
“Police members are asked to modify their uniform by wearing a cassowary bird hat and symbols of other cultures, ” Papua police chief Inspector General Tito Karnavian said on Wednesday (18/6).
“This is a Papua cultural festival. Besides securing the festival, we also take part in celebrating it, “he added.
During the festival, two Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) awards will be given.
Deputy chairman of FDS committee, Hanna Hikoyabi said the two records would be painting on the bark as long as 100 meters and the largest pottery or craft from clay to make papeda or called “Sampe”.
“Later on also there will be dancing on the water or Isosolo. Then, there is also rowing race and some ornamental boats that have been prepared, ” Hikoyabi explained. (Jubi / Arjuna/ Tina)
