Jayapura, Jubi – Papuans will hold a peaceful protest through prayer and fasting from June 24-26 to support the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) in its bid to a member of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) that is being held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, the spokesperson for the West Papua National Committee (KNPB), Bazoka Logo, said.
“We KNPB together with all the people of West Papua fully support our leaders that are now in Solomon Island,” Logo said when accompanied by first chairman deputy of KNPB Agus Kossay and chairman deputy of PNWP, Romario Yatipai at KNPB Secretariat in Waena, Jayapura on Wednesday (24/6/2015).
Prayer and fasting will be held simultaneously until West Papua is officially accepted as a full member of MSG, he said.
“We, the people of West Papua declare West Papua nation is not a nation of Indonesia and Malay race in Southeast Asia. We are a nation of West Papua, Melanesian race in South Pacific. We the people of West Papua express full support to bring a ULMWP to the biological family, MSG, “he said.
Meanwhile, first chairman deputy of KNPB Agus Kossay hoped that the statement of Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea (PNG PM) O’Neil to fully support West Papua as a member of MSG hopefully will be conveyed at the conference.
He added that PNG Prime Minister is also the Melanesian ” May God bless him. There must be a way out, “he added. (Abeth You/Tina)
