Manokwari, Jubi / Antara – A group of people who called themselves the Papuan Entrepreneur Solidarity blocked offices of Public Works and the National Road Construction Agency (Balai Jalan Nasional) of West Papua Province.
Protest leader Jhoni Iyek said their action was to express disappointment as both departments did not prioritize Papuan entrepreneurs in awarding government projects in construction.
“We demand the department of Public Works and the National Roads Agency give priority to indigenous Papuan entrepreneurs for government projects,” he said.
“The blockage will be open if the head of Public Works and head of National Road Construction Agency of West Papua province to hold a dialogue to discuss the empowerment of Papuan entrepreneurs in every project,” he said when met on Tuesday (24/03/2015).
Separately, chairman deputy of West Papua Legislative Council, RLH Mansawan said the Council will call both departments to find the solutions to the problems. (*)
