Jayapura, 15/6 (Jubi) – Papua police are ready to maintain security in conflict-prone areas, including Yapen Island, Jayawijaya, Mimika, Yahukimo and Nabire, provincial police chief Tito Karnavian said.

“This is to anticipate the unwanted situation, including in the Yapen Island Regency after the death of criminal leader Rudi Orerei a few days ago. If the local police chief asked for back up, we will send additional personnel,” Tito said on Saturday (14/6).

But, Tito said the Yapen Police chief stated he still could count on his troop by now. However, the Papua Police would continue analyzing potential conflict areas. (Jubi/Arjuna/rom)
