Jayapura, Jubi – Papua governor Lukas Enembe called on all parties to ensure the success of simultaneous elections scheduled for December 9, which will take place in 11 regencies in Papua.
“The success of elections is our responsibility. So it is important to conduct early detection (of a possible threat to security), no matter how small it is,” Enembe said while leading a joint coordination meeting Forkopimda elections, in Jayapura on Wednesday (25/11/2015 ).
He said the climate was favorable in general ahead of the elections, but he urged authorities not take any chances, especially in some areas.
More specifically, he asked Local Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to stick to the rules. “If youoperate outside the rules, you will face problems,” he added.
He said he hoped Bawaslu will immediately resolve the problems in accordance with the rules. “We hope members of Bawaslu to perform well,” said Enembe.
Meanwhile, Papua Police chief Inspector General Police Paul Waterpauw said so far the campaign has been run safely and peacefully in 11 regencies. My only concern is related to the distribution logistics.
” I hope the distribution logistics can be handled well. This became the main thing in our discussion of the security forces, especially Papua weather as well as the current limitations of the fuel in rural areas “said Waterpauw. (Alexander Loen/ Tina)
