
Export activity at Port of Jayapura – Jubi
Jayapura, Jubi – Papua exports during August jumped 137.09 percent from the previous month, the Central Bureau of Statistics Papua Province announced.
“Papua’s total exports for August 2016 reached USD 246.77 million or a 137.09-percent increase compared to July’s USD 104.08 million,” said the Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics Papua JB Priyono in Jayapura on Thursday (15/9/2016).
He said Papua’s exports for oil and gas were valued at USD 30,000 and non-oil and gas products was worth USD 246.77.
“The biggest exports of USD 239.97 million was delivered through Amamapare Seaport,” he said. Total export for Copper and Concentrate (HS26) of USD 239.97 or up to 97.24 percent of Papua total export in that period.
“Comparing to July 2016, total exports for copper concentrate in August 2016 increased to 147.84 percent due to the increase of the volume of export for this category that reached to 137.93 percent,” he said.
Priyono said this top Papuan commodity was exported to China, Philippines, South Korean and India. While for the category of wood and furniture (HS44) with plywood as top commodity to earn USD 6.70 million was exported to South Korean, United Arab Emirates and Oman. Meanwhile, the cumulative total exports for January – August 2016 is USD 1.025 billion or decrease to USD 27.10 percent to the total export in January-August in 2015. (*/rom)
