Jayapura , 6/4 ( Jubi ) – The Papua Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) recorded as many as 875 violations during the campaign period ahead of Wednesday’s legislative elections.
Papua Bawaslu chairman Robert Horik 773 violations involved campaign instruments and 102 were reported from 29 regencies / cities in Papua.
It is up to the local governments to take action because the Supervisory Board only makes recommendations. Unfortunately, local Bawaslu difficulty imposing sanctions against parties who involved children children in campaigning because the parents said that they had no one at home to take care of their kids.
“That’s what we call the gray area. Therefore, we can only impose social sanctions through announcements in the media, ” he added.
The head of the Election Supervisory Board for Jayapura City , Hilda C. Nahusona said campaign violations also included the use of official vehicles and the participation of civil servants (PNS).
“There were also campaigns outside schedule that took place in different locations. Reports found that Hanura party had 17 cases of violations, Golkar 16 cases, Nasdem 10 cases, PKB and Democrats 9 cases, PAN 7 cases, PBB and PKPI 6 cases , PDIP 5 cases and PKS 4 cases,” Hilda said.
