Sentani, Jubi (2/2) – Only 10 people of 546 obligatory targets conducted the Electronic Identity Card (e-ID) recording in Airu Sub-district, Jayapura District, Papua, until now.

‘We faced many obstacles during the e-ID card recording in this farthest sub-district of Jayapura District, such as the limited electricity, lack of human resources and the high transportation cost for reaching this area,” he said.

But he explained his department will continuously go in order the community in Airu Sub-district is soon able to conduct the recording by mobilize his staffs. Besides the staffs’ mobilization, we are trying to optimize the recording machine or recording equipment which is already settled in Airu Sub-district by settling a technician in case the machine is damaged, or bringing a new recording operator to operate that machine,” he explained.
Albert said the target of e-ID card recording for the compulsory identity card residents in Jayapura District is recorded as 155, 179 inhabitants, which is only achieved 90,000 inhabitants. “Of 19 existing sub-district in Jayapura District, the achievement of e-ID card recording is averaged 60 percent, except for the farthest sub-district such as Airu and Kaureh,” he added.
He added, though his department is not optimist that the e-ID card recording in Jayapura District will be completed in 2014, however they would give their best effort for doing their best so that the residents could soon have the e-ID card. (Jubi/D. Budiman/P. Maizier)
