Jayapura, 29/4 (Jubi) – The Indonesian Ombudsman (ORI) in Papua said most of departments in the Jayapura municipality are providing poor public services.

“There are four of fifteen departments who are in the yellow category, including the Department of Population and Birth Registration and the Department of Regional Income. It means some departments must improve their performance. The appraisal was made from 2013, and we hope there will be a change for this year,” an assistant to Ombudsman, Melania Kirihio, told tabloidjubi.com on Tuesday (29/4).

With this appraisal, the ORI Papua urged government departments to provide better services in the future.
“We are not looking for the weaknesses but we are making efforts to develop a synergy between departments in the government of Jayapura Municipality in order to fulfill the standards of public services in the future,” she added.

Meanwhile, Jayapura Mayor Benhur Tommy Mano said the government is strongly supporting efforts to improve the quality of public services. “The local government is open for evaluation by monitoring institutions in order to improve the efficiency, the quality, the speed and the accountability of its performance,” he said.
