The letter from Government of Jayapura Regency (Jubi)
Sentani, 11/2 (Jubi) – Klemens Sorbu, a native Papuan student who passed initial tests to enroll in a flight school in Cimahi, West Java, said the Jayapura government has rejected his proposal for a scholarship.
Klemens said he was disappointed after the administration said that it had no education assistance fund for him. He said he did not know how to get a scholarship because there was little information about it.
“I’m not following government programs because I don’t have any clue about scholarships provided by the government, but I understand there’s an indigenous empowerment program as part of an affirmative policy,” Klemens told tabloidjubi.com in Sentani, Tuesday (11/2).
Klemens said the local government should be flexible in implementing the empowerment program so native Papua people like him who did not enter the program from the beginning could still get help.
