Jayapura, 15/7 (Jubi) – Papua Elections Commission (KPU) said it was unable to conduct repeat presidential elections in two districts in Mapia and two districts in Dogiyai despite a recommendation from Papua Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).
“Well, repeat election cannot be delayed and they must notify us ahead because the deadline was Tuesday (15/7). So, I think, it’s not possible,” said Papua KPU chairman Adam Arisoi on Tuesday (15/7).
If Bawaslu found fraud indications, it should immediately coordinate with Papua Election Commission, he said.
“The Election Commission in each regency and city has conducted a plenary and these cases have not been reported to us,” he said.
A Bawaslu commissioner, Anugrah Pata, earlier said it would recommend repeating voting in Dogiyai, Naibire and Paniai.
“Ballots were not distributed, so the administration of election is still questionable,” Pata said. (Jubi / Arjuna/ Tina)
