New Military Command Should Be Led by Native Papuan

Jayapura, Jubi – The commander of of Regional Command XVII / Cenderawasih, Major General (TNI) Fransen M Siahaan said he hoped a Papuan will serve as the chief of Military Command XVIII in West Papua.

“It is expected that the construction of West Papua military command will be completed by the end of this year and it will be named military command XVIII/Cassowary. Now there are two Papuan men who have become generals and one colonel and expected one of them will be the chief,” Siahaan said in Manokwari, West Papua province last week.

He said, now construction of military command headquarters of has already started and personnel are being prepared.
“In the future the new military command will be in charge of military command and Korem 171 and 173, while District Military Command and the Commando will follow the establishment of this new military command by itself,” he said.

Based on the information received, the Regional Military construction site will occupy the company C and D, then Company will occupy a new location in Warmare and Manokwari regencies, West Papua. (Arjuna Pademme/ Tina)
