Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise – Jubi
Jayapura, Jubi – Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise said the Indonesian Language Institution of the University of Cenderawasih has not served the students well while the university did not see the institution as one that plays an important role.
For that reason, according to her, her purpose coming to Jayapura is to conduct a seminar and workshop in collaboration with the language institute.
“I come to Papua to conduct a seminar and workshop because the role of the language institution at other universities in Indonesia is excellent, further they have direct coordination with the rector,” said Yambise, , said who was head of the English Language Institute in Jayapura, Wednesday (6/4/2016).
Therefore she is planning to ask the Australian Government to provide assistant towards the existing language institution in Papua to enable the children in Papua to learn with adequate facilities and qualified teachers.
“I ask if the Australian Government could help us, so in the future this institution could accommodate the Papuan children with good facilities and certified teachers, so at the end they could be competed in the ASEAN Economic Community,” said Minister Yembise.
She added the ASEAN Economic Community has been started since January 2016, and actually Papuans were able to get involved. However, they must be well prepared to be involved in it. “English is very important, not competent in English could make us overwhelmed to compete with people from other provinces in Indonesia,” she said.
