Sorong, Jubi – Many elementary school students (SD) in Sorong, West Papua, are unable to speak Indonesian, Sorong Regent Dr. Dors. Stepanus Malak.
Malak said during a visit to Sailala village, East Sayosa District that there were no teachers in some schools in Sorong and facilities were poor .
“I was shocked with this condition. I will follow up with the related authorities. And for those teachers who do not do their duties, should be given strict punishments, “ Malak said told Jubi in Sorong on Thursday (24/9/2015).
The regent said he would soon discuss the matter with the education department in order to find solutions to those problems. If he finds any teacher does not want to teach, then he as regent will not hesitate to take action.
Education observer in Sorong Raya, Klois Yable deplored the conditions that occur in Sorong.
“These teachers are very irresponsible, got paid but do not do their duties well,”he added. (Niko MB)
