LOST OF BALLOT BOXES CAUSED THE STATE LOSSES OF HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS RUPIAH

Jayapura 09 / 01 ( Jubi ) – Thousands of ballot boxes that belong to the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality were sold by the owner of the warehouse. This action had caused the state losses of hundreds of millions rupiah.
The Chairman of the Election Commission of Papua, Adam Arisoy, confirmed to the media reporters about the lost of thousands ballot boxes belong to the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality. “The logistics belong to the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality that are the ballot boxes were sold by the owner of the warehouse. We have already reported this case to the Central Election Commission,” said Arisoy in his office to the reporters this afternoon, Thursday (09/01).
Thousands of ballot boxes were lost, further he said. The lost value could be up to hundreds of millions rupiah for each ballot box cost about three hundreds rupiah. “I got the information from the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality has reported the owner of the warehouse to the police. The owner was responsible about this lost as he got the key of the warehouse,” he said.
Arisoy outlined that the Election Commission rent the warehouse to store these ballot boxes. About the payment issue, it should be confirmed first to the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality about the completion of payment. Those stuffs are belong to the State, including some documents of the Election of Legislative 2009, the Election of Regent of Jayapura Municipality, as well as the Election of Governor,” he said.
Meanwhile in the separate location, The Chief of the Police Office of Jayapura Municipality, AKBP. Alfred Papare confirmed on this case, and until now, his party is conducting the investigation towards the owner of the warehouse. “Currently the owner of warehouse where the logistic for the election belong to the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality were stored has been investigated. And if it were proved that he had done it in purpose to remove those logistics, he would be processed to the court, said Alfred, this afternoon, Thursday (09/01).
However, if there were something to be considered, further said Alfred, the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality would be handled over. “We have already investigated the Secretary of the Election Commission of Jayapura Municipality together with his staffs. In fact this logistic storage is for rent, so in the time being, it could be a late of payment. And it might be a cause. But we are still on going the deeply investigation,” he said.
