Jayapura, 6/2 (Jubi) – The government of Jayapura Municipality should move to speed up the handover of land on which the Youtefa traditional market willl be built, a councillor said.
“This process should be taken more seriously. They just need to change the status and hand it over the land ownership from the provincial government to the government of Jayapura Municipality,” said by Achmad Jaenuri, the Chairman of Commission B of People’s Representative Council of Jayapura Municipality.
“The Government Investment Center won’t accept it if the asset still belongs to the provincial government,” Jaenuri told tabloidjubi.com by phone on Wednesday (5/2).
He said it was a matter of communication between the provincial and municipality governments.
“Special Committee of People’s Representative Council of Jayapura Municipality considers Yotefa Traditional Market as one of several issues must get special attention,” he said.
Separatedly, the Vice Mayor of Jayapura Municipality, Nuralam said expect construction for the central market to start in the beginning or middle of this year, pending an environment impact analysis and certification of land release on Yoteva Traditional Market from the provincial government to the municipality government.
“Our target is in the beginning of this year or mid year the latest, the certificate will be completed and ready,” he said.
He said he hoped once the issue is resolved, funds from The Government Investment Centre of Ministry of Finance will soon be disbursed.
Under the plan, the Government of Jayapura Municipality will build a modern market that can serve as a Regional Central Market. (Jubi/Sindung/rom)
