
Medicines and health facilities are very limited at each existing Pustu and Puskesmas (community health center) – Jubi
Sentani, Jubi – Members of Jayapura Legislative Council found many shortcomings in public health services during their recent visit to Pembangunan Tiga and Pembangunan Empat areas.
“In general we must admit there’s a lack of infrastructure and facilities that should be provided by the government, such as houses for health officers. It made officers feel uncomfortable to work,” said councilor Abraham Demogreng at his office on Wednesday (2/3/2016).
Medicines and health facilities are very limited at each existing Pustu and Puskesmas (community health center), as the result many people suffer diseases such as malaria, dengue fever.
“We found Sarmi Bawah residents of Nimboran Sub-district who have malaria. Fortunately there was no fatality. Besides lack of medicines, clean water is also another problem for the health centers. Consequently, once newborn baby was cleaned with rain water,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Jayapura Health Office Khairul Lie sometimes ago revealed the efforts done by his office to improve the health services in this regency by recruiting temporary workers to conduct mobile health services. “We also prepare some special teams to directly come to the villages,” he said.
