Jayapura, Jubi – Indonesian President Joko Widodo is expected to visit Merauke Regency and Jayapura Municipality, Papua, on 9 May.

“Actually we have not yet the official letter, but he will probably arrive in Papua on 9 May. So we are waiting for more valid information,” the Papua Regional Secretary Hery Dosinaen told reporters in Jayapura last week.

He said the president’s agenda in Papua includes placing the first stone of the stadium’s construction for National Sport Event 2020 in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, launching the first stone of Hamadi – Holtekam Bridge’s construction as well as the first stone of IPDN campus’ construction in Jayapura Municipality and launching the paddy harvesting in Merauke Regency.

“But it’s not confirmed yet. The Papua Governor still needs to propose this agenda officially to the presidential protocol therefore it could be well prepared. It is the provincial government’s proposal but the final decision is on the hands of Mr. President,” he said.
