Cements crisis and fuel price hike hit Jayawijaya – Jub

Wamena, Jubi – Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Province and local parliamentary members have yet to meet to find a solution on the issue of fuel price hike at the retailer level which has reached Rp 25 per liter in Jayawijaya.

The Regional Secretary of Jayawijaya Regency, Yohanis Walilo, in Wamena, Wednesday (September 20), said the problem of fuel shortage, cement, and some basic needs cannot be discussed only with government.

“We have applied the one price of fuel policy, but this happens only because the stock is limited so that the people (retailers) sell it to the previous price of Rp25 thousand per liter. This is what we need to address together with parliament, and in the near future we will have a meeting,” he said.

According to him, the fuel price hike previously sold by Rp10 thousand per liter at the retailer and rose to Rp15 thousand, Rp20 thousand, and Rp25 thousand due to stock limitations.

“Related to the scarcity of fuel, cement, and some of these basic needs we are dependent on the plane. When TriMG plane got accident, so it is temporarily not operating, and this has consequences. Although there are other aircrafts but technically they transport other necessities of goods,” he said.

He expects, the problems that occurred in Jayawijaya will get the attention of the Ministry of Transportation.

“In relation to this issue, the government return it to the aviation and also possibly to the Ministry of Transportation. We need attention of this situation,” he said.(*)
