

Sex workers at Dolly (IST)
Jayapura, 21/6 (Jubi) – The Jayapura municipal government is anticipating the possibility of sex workers from Dolly, Surabaya, migrating to Jayapura after their red light district was closed by the local government.
“We can not deny the possibility of sex workers moving to Jayapura city. Currently, sex workers who are in Jayapura come from Manado, Makassar and Surabaya,” first assistant of regional secretary, Binton Nainggolan in Abepura said on Saturday afternoon ( 21/6).
“Our plan is to conduct health examination and enforcement of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between government and bar entrepreneurs.” Binton added.
Binton explained, local government will hold a coordination meeting with some stakeholders to anticipate this threat.
Meanwhile, the Papua Family Planning Association Executive Committee Indonesia (IPPA), Dr. Gunawan recognizes the impact of Dolly’s closure.
“The impact should be taken into account by the entire government, I think after Eid, let us prepare all together,” he said briefly. (Jubi / Sindung/ Tina)
