Merauke, Jubi ( 9/1 ) – Thousands of people from several different villages attended the celebration of three years leadership of Drs . Romanus Mbaraka and Sunarjo. The event began from 15:00 pm ( local time), opened by a five- religion prayer chain. Besides attended by residents, also the officials of each department and legislators.

The Regent of Merauke, Drs . Romanus Mbaraka , MT in his speech on Friday ( 10/1 ) , said that the event should have been held on January 8, 2013, similar inauguration date a couple years ago. However, coinciding , with the silver jubilee Mass three priests, the event was able to be held now.
“In this event, Mr. Vice- regent of Merauke, Sunarjo, S.Sos was not able to attend because he is sick. Therefore, the people should not be misinterpreted by his absence. He is sick and could not attend.” he said On this occasion.

The Regent explained that in three years several development programs have been undertaken in 160 villages and eight kelurahan ( political district administered by the village chief).
“We realized if there are still many things that are still lacking and need to be addressed in remaining two years of leadership in the future.” he said.

He also confirmed one of the programs implemented is The Movement of Developing my Village ( Gerakan Pembangunan Kampungku). It is designed with the aim that Papua people should be able to work . They should not be a spectator or be passive in their own land.
“I designed this program because of the fact that year after year , almost all of the programs implemented become “beneficial projects- oriented” and do not give the opportunity to village people to work alone.” he said .
