Sorong, Jubi – West Papua Police Chief Brigadier General Paulus Waterpauw said a dispute involving Mobile Brigade police and soldiers at Tembok Berlin, Sorong on last week (9/7/2015) was a personal matter, insisting that the two institutions are on good terms.

“We have a good relationship. The last incident wasn’t related to the institutions. It’s a personal conflict. Therefore we have confronted all leaders and they agreed to end the conflict,” said Waterpauw on Tuesday (14/7/2015).

He said the West Papua Police had invited both sides’ leaders to sit together for a resolution.

The Police and the military agreed to educate and give punishment to those who are involved in the fighting.
“We already have the procedure. We will investigate those who involved in this incident. Once it was proven, there would be a sanction over them,” he said appealing his personnel to keep good relations among them and other force units.

Meanwhile, the social observer Hendri Silalahi the dispute involved the personnel of both institution have portrayed their immatureness in handling the problem by showing their ego to blemish their institutions. “I think if the leaders are mature, they should take appropriate act,” he said.

As previously reported, the Sorong Mobile Brigade and Military personnel were involved in the dispute at Tembok Berlin, Sorong City on Sunday (12/7/2015) at around 05:00 Papua time. They were considered under the influence of alcohol. No casualty in the incident but a resident’s motorbike was reported nearly broken. (Niko MB/rom)
