Jayapura, Jubi – Hundreds of Muslims from different Islamic organizations held a zikr (remembrance of Allah) on Saturday (25/10) to mark the Islamic New Year in Papua Province.
The chairman of the Association of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI) Papua, Muhamad Musaad said Islam has been contributing and dedicated to local development through real actions, not only doing lips service.
Using the Islamic New Year as a momentum to support national and local leaders, to realize the faith and virtue qualities in Papua.
“I hope it would be useful for us, if today we are not better than yesterday, therefore we are a looser,” he told Jubi on Saturday noon (25/10).
Meanwhile, Rector of Yapis Papua University, Muhdi B Ibrahim said the term of hijra (migration) implicates change for human, not only its physical but including the changes of its mental and attitude.
“For Yapis Papua University, hijria is the change of philosophy for better achievement in the future, not only including the human services or human resource quality improvement or extension of new faculties,” he said. (Sindung Sukoco/rom)
