

Head of autonomy affairs at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nurbowo (Jubi)utonomous
Merauke, Jubi (2/13) – An observation team from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance inspected two prospective autonomous regions (DOB) in the Southern region of Papua including Merauke city and the Muyu regency.
The purpose of the visit was to verify information on the administrative division of a number of regions following a mandate issued by the President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, . the head of autonomy affairs at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nurbowo, at a press conference on Thursday (2/13).
“Data from the administrative division team matched with our observation. For the town of Merauke, will make an observation visit in one or two days, before the team returns to Jakarta,” he said.
Nurbowo said the existing data will be reviewed and a check-list will be made as mandated by Government Regulation No. 78 of 2007.
“Yes, this observation was one step towards the BPOD trial and will be followed up again through a recommendation – whether the areas are eligible or not (for divisions), “he said.
“We follow up make observations in accordance with the Direct Mandate of President issued including other 20 areas in Papua,” he added.
Nurbowo said a meeting would be convened to be followed by a recommendations to be submitted to the President. A the recommendation is accepted by the president, a bill (RUU) will be drafted to be discussed by Parliament.
“Technically, we only carry out duties that have been given to use. As for political matters, they are beyond the authority of the team,” he said.
Separately, the leader of a team in charge of the administrative division of Muyu regency, Martinus Torip, said he took part in the one-day observation visit to Mindip Land, which is to be split from Digoel regency. “I guarantee that all data is complete and there is no problem anymore,” he said.
