Merauke, 7/3 (Jubi) – Regional Military Commander Major General Christian Zebua said the soldiers will help the police officers create safe condition for successful election scheduled on 9 April 2014. “To ensure it could run safety and successfully,” he told to reporters in the VIP Room of Mopah Airport on Friday (7/3).
His mission to Merauke was to review the preparation and readiness of soldiers helping safeguard ahead to the elections with the police. “I’ll check all aspect of preparation including their mentality since they will be with the community who they must protect. It would be different from the experiences they had in the battlefield,” the Commander said.
He further said that people should not worry about the safety condition because the army and police would be united to secure the elections in both provinces of Papua and West Papua. Currently the police have been ready with 1550 personnel plus 5000 additional, it would not counted the personnel of Navy and Air Force.
Merauke Regent Romunus Mbaraka said the local government was ready to support the legislature election. “I guarantee the security condition in Merauke Regency would remain conducive,” he said. (Jubi/Frans L Kobun)
