Abepura, Jubi – The head of the Health Center in Harapan village, Jayapura regency, Hadi Kurniawan said the clinic often ran out of standard drugs such as Paracetamol, Vitamin C, CTM and DEXA despite its close proximity to the city.

“In the middle of the year we usually run out of a standard drugs as demands increase. And it becomes a problem when serving the community,” he told the Jubi in the health center office on Monday (26/1).

More people in East Sentani suffer from respiratory tract infection (ARI), diarrhea and malaria and these types of sickness require standard drugs.

When the drugs are not available, he then give prescriptions to patients.

“Actually, we rarely give prescriptions, unless the patient needs it or drugs are not available at all,” he said.

In addition, the clinic also needs more health workers as based on the health center personnel standard, it must consists of two physicians and one dentist, yet health center in Harapan village has only one dentist and a general practitioner.

“We still need one more general practitioner and additional nurses as nurses work multitasks,” he said.

Despite many shortcomings, East Sentani Residents appreciate the service of the health center. The service is now better than the previous service. (Mawel Benny/TN)
