PT Smelting (PTS)’s Gresik Copper Smelter and Refinery at Gresik, East Java – mmc.co.jp
Jakarta, Jubi – The president director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Maroef Shamsuddin, said the construction of a smelter on land owned by PT Petrokimia in Gresik, East Java, is currently in the land processing phase.
“Now it has led to the processing of land area,” he said, after the hearing between Commission VII of the House of Representatives and PT Freeport Indonesia regarding the extension of the contract of work and construction of the smelter in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2015).
He said the construction of the smelter with an investment of Rp 2.3 billion is expected to be completed in 2017.
He said it would cooperate in the supply of concentrate during the construction of a smelter in Papua. And the construction itself of would be prepared by local government.
“Later on when the smelter is completed, we will provide cooperation in order to supply concentrates in the framework of B to B,” he said.
Previously, the capacity of the new processing plant and refinery was planned two million tons of concentrate per year with an investment of 2.3 billion US dollars.
The location is next to the processing plant smelter PT Smelting Gresik in Gresik, East Java.
Smelting Gresik occupies an area of 30 hectares with a capacity of one million tons of concentrate per year. (*)
