Papua Governor Lukas Enembe when giving a speech accompanied by Deputy Governor of Papua, the Regent and Deputy Regent of Puncak Papua District – Jubi / Engel Wally

Sentani, Jubi – Papua Governor Lukas Enembe asserted that no more Papuans must die in the hand of military officers for no reasons.

“Our population is small, yet we are becoming a target of killing for no particular reasons which able to resolve in dignified ways. So, Papuans must not die on this land because of the trivial matters,” said Enembe in Kampung Harapan, Sentani Timur sub-district when attending the ceremonial event of the elected Regent and Deputy Regent of Puncak District for the period 2018-2023 on Monday (9/24/2018).

Furthermore, he said any murderers would be reported to the UN. “No matter who you are, whether you are military, the police, if you kill Papuans, I report it directly to the United Nations,” he said.

Governor Enembe hopes that the social security situation in Puncak District is conducive, that there are no more disputes among the tribes and villages.

“We also should be nice with the security forces because until now there is no country leader can resolve the human rights issues in Papua. To live in harmony and peace, all must run well and comply with the rules,” he hoped.

On that occasion, Enembe also reminded Papuans to compete with others in education.

“To the Regent and Deputy elect, you are responsible for all Papuans in Puncak District. I also remind you that education, health and economy are the important factors that you must consider,” he said.

The elected Regent Willem Wandik said the regional government would always pay attention to everything has been declared by the governor. He also promised to increase the community services in education, health, and the economy.

“To all people of Puncak District, I invite all of you to return home, to the land where we were born, to build and run a new government by improving the public services,” he said.  (*)
