Jayapura, 13/6 (Jubi) – The provincial government said it has not been advised on the legal status of acting Mimika regent Ausilius You in the corruption case surrounding a school renovation project that dates to the time when he was he was the head of the Department of Education and Culture.
“We have not got any report on the issue of Mimika regent ,Ausilius You. We are waiting for more detail information on this news, “Regional Secretary of Papua, Hery Dosinaen told reporters in Jayapura, Papua, on Thursday (12/6).
Earlier, chief of Papua prosecutor’s office (Kajati) ES Maruli Hutagalung said Ausilius has been named a suspect.
However, the Mimika persecutors have not been able to arrest the suspect because he is stil serving as an acting Mimika regent.
“Yes, we haven’t arrested him but later we will do it, “he said.
He explained that the suspect misused the budget when serving as head of the Department of Education and Culture. The suspect paid the contractor Rp. 410 million to renovate junior high school buildings but only 65 percent of the work was completed.
“Related to this case, the contractor with initials KA has been sentenced to one year in prison, “he said. (Jubi / Alex/ Tina)
