Jayapura, 15/2 (Jubi) – Chairman of South Papuan Solidarity, John Gluba Gebze stated peoples want an indigenous Marind to be a Caretaker of DOB (New Autonomous Region) Merauke Municipality.
“Caretaker is a career position therefore we nominate Selestinus Kahol, an indigenous Marind, a Wambi native, to be a caretaker. He is one of the successors of South Papua who involved in the initiative of Merauke Municipality. We won’t let other people come taking his position after his hard working. Of course he who goes invest shall come to harvest,” Gluba Gebze told to reporters on Saturday (15/2).
According to him, who was the Former Regent of Merauke Regency and also a pioneer of South Papua Province and DOB extension of southern Papua region, the determination of Merauke Municipality and other 65 proposed DOBs would be decided in the plenary session of National Parliament in March.
“We started it with all critics. But I assured all my brothers that our works would be blessed. Therefore we asked for blessings and grace from anyone. Without anything, they came with me to realizing Merauke Municipality,” he said.
Gebze said that Selestinus Kahol is one of indigenous Marind who has a senior position as civil servant. He is now the Assistant II of the Regional Government of Merauke.
“This is the voice of peoples. Their voice should be considered, unless we are proposing an incompetent candidate. This is a career position, and I think our proposal is right. There is no prohibition to nominate another candidate. However please be aware that people has been struggled for this city for getting Amanat Presiden (President’s Mandate-ed),” he said.
Prior, the Merauke Regent Romanus Mbaraka said there are only seven Officials of Marind native at the level of Echelon II in the government of Merauke Regency.
If the city of Merauke has been realized, they must sharing the tasks.
“Three or four officials will be assigned in Merauke Regency while the rest for Merauke Municipality. Please noted that Regent is the only one who has the authority to nominate a caretaker to the Governor, not anyone else,” he said. (Arjuna/Jubi/rom)
