Wamena, Jubi – Seven fractions of Jayawijaya Legislative Council stated their opinions on Tuesday (4/8/2015) in a plenary session to discuss plans to build Mobile Brigade police headquarters in Jayawijaya Regency.
The factions were divided over the issue since there has been no official proposal submitted by the Jayawijaya Regional Government and Indonesian Police Headquarters.
In the hearing, Gerindra Party said it opposed the plan while the Democrat Party, PKB and PKPI factions neither approved or rejected it.
Meanwhile for similar reasons, the Reform Party and Pilamo factions concluded there was nothing to be discussed further.
Second Chairman of Jayawijaya Legislative Council, Soleman Elosak said the Council should have reference before making a conclusion, while there’s no reference so far on the development plan of Mobile Brigade Headquarters in Jayawijaya Regency in which concluded an abstain.
“We want to make decision in the hearing but we don’t have any reference or recommendation either from Jayawijaya Government or Indonesian Police Headquarters or Papua Police about the request on Mobile Brigade Headquarters,” he told reporters.
When asked about his meeting with the Commission A of Jayawijaya Legislative Council and Papua Police Chief sometime ago, he said there’s no official proposal. Therefore, the plan to build the Mobile Brigade Headquarters is still a rumor or discourse. “I don’t know if we could discuss this issue in the next year because we are still not able to make a conclusion because there’s no official proposal from any parties,” he said.
On the other hand, Muli Wetipo represents the community forum who refuse the development of Mobile Brigade Headquarters said he did appreciate the council’s decision which basically refused the plan. But he also criticized the result. “I didn’t see a decision on deadline until when this plan would be objected in Jayawijaya, so we will keep our eyes to watch the process of the plan to grow Mobile Brigade in Jayawijaya Regency,” said Wetipo.
