Biak, Jubi – Garuda Indonesia will open flights from Biak to Nabire in June to serve the local community and improve ourism in the eastern part of Indonesia.
“The first flight from Biak to Nabire will launch in June,” said general manager of Garuda Indonesia of Biak branch, Gunar Angkasa, in Biak on Thursday (25/02/2016).
Garuda will use the ATR type aircraft for the Biak-Nabire route.
The new route is expected to facilitate the needs for air transport as well as to accelerate the economic development.
The opening flight from Biak to Serui, is still awaiting the Serui Airport facility expansion so that it can accommodate ATR.
For passengers of Garuda Indonesia in Serui, will be served together with other passengers from Frans Kaisepo airport.
“The first flight Biak-Nabire route is expected to run smoothly based on the schedule of Garuda Indonesia management,” he stated.
Until now Garuda Indonesia flight service activities from Biak-Jayapura and Biak-Jakarta via Makassar run normally as scheduled with the departure of Boeing 737 NG aircraft.
Based on data transport service flights on the Nabire Biak-Biak Frans Kaisiepo service served only private company Susi Air with a frequency of three times a week. (*/Tina)
