Jayapura, Jubi – A Garuda flight from Jayapura to Sorong was delayed four three hours, with the airline citing technical and operational problems, passengers said.
According to schedule GA 699 should have departed from Jayapura at 11:05 and arrived in Sorong at 13:55 Papua time. A passenger Mrs. Icha told Jubi by phone she decided to cancel her travel.
“Earlier I had notification through short message sent from the number 0811487792 informed GA 699 flight to Manokwari-Sorong-Ujung Pandang would get three hours delay due to technical and operational difficulties,” she said.
Further she added along with other passengers, she waited for three hours before get to the plane. But after waiting for several times on the plane, the air was stuffy.
“Passengers felt uncomfortable because of the heat. Finally some passengers and I decided to get down and cancel my flight. I suspended until tomorrow morning. But some passengers chose to fly though the air condition in the plane was not normal,” he said.
A passenger flight to Sorong who decline to be named said actually he wanted to go but he canceled it because he worried something was happening during the flight.
“Actually I want to go because I have been in Jayapura for a week due to official mission. But due to the flight condition, I cancel it. Tomorrow I am planning to go with the same aircraft,” he said. (Roy Ratumakin/rom)
