Deiyai, 7/3 (Jubi) – Four villages in Deiyai regency, Dagokebo, Okomokebo, Bagou, and Edagotadi threatened to boycott the Legislative and Presidential Election due to the Voters List (DPT) reduced.
” We will participate in the election after the number of voter list ( DPT) is added up. If not, we will boycott,” said Benjamin Adii, head of Edagotadi village at the hall of the Deiyai Commission in Wakeitei, district of Tigi on Thursday (6/3) .
Adii explained, the previous Election of regional head (Pilkada) in 2013, the voters number was 1,152, yet at this time it is reduced to 901 voters.
“It’s not fair, hundreds of voters has been trimmed down as well as other three villages. If there is no solution, then we will definitely boycott the election, “he said.
He urged the local government, the Department of labor and population and Election Commission of Deiyai Regency to immediately address the issue. As these three agencies play an important role to resolve this problem.
“We will wait when these three agencies will invite us to discuss further,” he said.
Chairman of Deiyai Election Commission, Medex Pakage confirmed that people should not debated with the Commission members because it is full authority of department of Labor and Population.
” The commissioners only received DPT number from Department of Labor and Population and did not deal with the reduced number of voters , “he said. (Jubi / HOM/Tina)
